All valid – but Staph infections can be caused by very resistant bacteria and can be extremely serious (and has lead to death). If you do not have improvement in 24* then seek medical treatment. I am a nurse and use alternative options whenever possible. But sometimes, antibiotics are truly warranted.

Really, someone could die with one of the new, fast progressing staph infections. I wouldn’t mess around with home remedies! The “flesh-eating” bacteria almost killed my friend within a couple of days.

the article should be more specific when involving honey… this should be raw, unprocessed honey – not the normal grocery store honey (which has been processed and pasteurized). Manuka honey is even better and has been shown to kill tough bacteria including MRSA.

Xylitol dissolve phlegm which bacteria and viruses hide in—I suspect they then starve without the slime protecting them and possibly feeding them. Used as a nose spray (1C warm sterile water + 5TBSP Xylitol in a 1C spray bottle) stopped my sinus infections completely and I have not had a cold or flue in nearly ten years now.
I now soak and spray my eczema on my legs and arms in Xylitol and this has taken away the pain, sting, different soreness, etc and cleared up my eczema. After my body has mostly dried I then coat it with a quality olive oil which soaks in pretty quickly.
The chems from my doctor and all other remedies, even ’natural’ did not work well. This has done the trick. I continue this protocol as I think it helps keep my skin moist and healthy; protecting it from drying out and further attacks or the return of my problem.
To repeat: I do believe that viruses and bacteria hide in slime, phlegm, and once exposed the body can deal with them, or maybe they die of starvation and exposure. I am not a scientist, but the fact that I have been free of colds and flues certainly indicates something right is going on. And that the pain in eczema sores are relieved suggests again, that I am on the right track. One must be persistent in a protocol for it to be effective. If the problem persists then alternative solutions must be found.

Xylitol is highly toxic to dogs so I would be wary of applying this anywhere they might come in contact with

I am very careful, with my ageing Corgi. But I do use it to wash our her ears, Then I pat the inside dryish. The Vet was very impressed with how clean her ears are.
This has been going on for about 5 years or more. She is now fifteen, about five+ years on the BARF (Bones and Raw Foods~meat and fact, some ground up veg). She is loosing her hind quarters, which is a problem with the breed; but which usually starts out much earlier than it does with most Corgis. Also raw beef tendons and ligaments has helped both our legs.

Hi, I was wondering what measurements did you use for the water?

      • mhikl

I use 8 large Tbsp full of Xylitol + 1/2 tsp backing soda and enough water to fill a 1 cup spray bottle from a dollar store—the water is first heated to dissolve the Xylitol. I spray my noes, ears, eyebrows and eyes at least once a day, more often twice a day. In flue season I may do it 3 times a day.
I have suffered from terrible sinus problems since early childhood. I became addicted to the spray in university so I gave it up. I still continued to suffer sinus infections until I finally suffered four or six? serious colds and four bad flues. That is what sent me to hunting out help on the internet.

Also where did you get the information from to use xylitol as a prevention method for bacteria and viruses?

      • mhikl

From internet studies and my own experiments. Recently I had some infection, the first in about 8 years. Taking it up the nose did help bring out the phlegm. But taking a Tbsp full in the mouth, and constantly swishing it around, started pulling out phlegm from my mouth. This usually pulls out just a little. But this past week, it would take about seven Tbsp full one after the other. More and more came out as the sweetness dissipated. Other wise I did not notice any phlegm. After many pulling the amount of phlegm began to lessen after two days, and was back to normal after a few more days.
I study, I use my body as my laboratory. I cannot speak to anyone else’s practice and results. I just know that where I used to get two to three bouts of colds a year, and the odd flue within a five year period, Xylitol has been a blessing. As a school teacher I have opportunity for more illness. Now, this single cold was my firsts.
Research is the best that an internet connexion offers. Best to do one’s own studies and to question everything a medical doctor and big corporations recommends. Most know little about health but a great deal about illnesses, so best to avoid illness and Meds through natural means.
