6 Home Remedies For Excessive Sweating In Hands And Feet

The medical term that denotes the health condition of excessive sweating is “Hyperhidrosis”. When affected by the health condition, a person sweats more than what is desired to keep the body temperature regulated. The condition is a social handicap, and burdens the life emotionally and psychologically as well. Hyperhidrosis can be both localized (affecting a singular part of the body), or generalized. As feet and hands (apart from groin and armpits) contain the maximum number of sweat glands, they are the most active regions where respiration occurs, inside the body. The localized form of excessive sweating, affecting the palms, hands, soles, under arms, or scalp is called as “Primary Hyperhidrosis”. Further, primary hyperhidrosis is called “Palmoplantar Hyperhidrosis” when excessive sweating affects only feet or hands, or “Gustatory Hyperhidrosis” when chest or facial regions are affected.

Some physicians have the opinion that the over activity of the sympathetic nervous system causes excessive sweating. Excitement and anxiety can cause the condition. Nicotine, caffeine, certain drinks/foods, and smells can also cause/worsen the condition. Obesity, menopausal flashes, medications (a few of them), the over activity of the thyroid gland, disease, health conditions (including tuberculosis and malaria), and nutritional deficiencies can be a cause of excessive sweating. Even un-hygienic lifestyle can cause the health condition. There are certain home remedies that can bring fast relief from the condition. These measures can be easily employed at home, and lower the discomfort that can be caused by the excessive sweating of the feet and hands.

2. Apple Cider Vinegar

ACV contains certain astringents that tighten up the sweat pores, so that the sweating/perspiration is lowered. When obesity is the cause of the condition, ACV boosts the metabolism, and controls the core cause of sweating. ACV also balances the pH of the human body, when consumed in any form, thereby contributing towards better homeostasis, and controlling excessive sweating. You can control the condition by using ACV. Wash the feet and hands, and apply ACV by using soft and clean cotton balls, before going to bed. Leave the substance overnight to exert its beneficial effects. In the morning, wash the areas and apply the baby powder. Alternatively, you can also mix ACV with the rose water, in a 1:1 proportion, and apply the mixture to the affected areas. Make the application 2 or 3 times, during the day.
