Directions:

Rice bran powder is creamier in color in comparison too arrowroot powder and works well for dry skin as it doesn’t absorb too much powder. For getting the right shade of foundation, cinnamon or nutmeg powder can be used. Nutmeg works better for darker skin tones whereas cinnamon contains more essential oil but can irritate the skin in people with sensitive skin. To prepare this powder foundation, mix ¼ cup of rice bran powder with either cinnamon or nutmeg powder according to your skin shade. Add ¼ tsp at once till you get the perfect match for your skin tone. Store in an airtight container and use as required.

Ingredients:

Arrowroot Powder – ½ cup
Cocoa Powder – according to shade
Green clay – ¼ cup

Mix arrowroot powder and green clay in a small container with a tight lid so you can store it properly. Add in ¼ teaspoon of cocoa powder at a time till you get the right shade that matches your skin tone perfectly. Mix well and use as required.

Ingredients:

Sericite Mica – 1 tablespoon
Kaolin Clay – ½ tbsp
Yellow Iron Oxide – ½ tsp
Brown Iron Oxide – ½ tsp

If you are looking for a mineral foundation, this one can be made at home using some minerals that are readily available. Mica is a form of silicate mineral which is easily available in the market. Synthetic iron oxide is prepared especially for use in cosmetics to provide the right shade to the product. To prepare, combine sericite mica and kaolin clay and add in the iron oxide while adjusting the amount to get the right shade for your complexion.

Ingredients:

Arrowroot Powder – ½ cup
Cocoa Powder – according to shade
Green clay – ¼ cup
Apricot kernel oil / sweet almond oil / olive oil

Prepare the powder foundation just like before and then slowly add in any of the above mentioned oils 2-3 drops at a time and mix well. The choice of the oil will depend on the fact that the darker the color of the oil, the darker the shade of the foundation will be. So lighter skin tones should go for light oils such as apricot kernel oil whereas darker skin tones can go for olive oil. Add enough oil to get the consistency you desire along with 2-3 drops of any essential oil of your choice to give the foundation a pleasant scent.

Ingredients:

Argan oil / Jojoba oil – 2 teaspoons
Shea butter – 1 teaspoon
Emulsifying wax – ½ teaspoon
Aloe vera gel – 1 tablespoon
Witch hazel – 1 teaspoon
Non-nano zinc oxide – 1-4 teaspoons
Cocoa powder – ½ teaspoon
Mica powder – ½ teaspoon
Kaolin Clay – ½ tsp

Directions:

This homemade foundation will not only provide you with the coverage you need for your makeup but will also nourish and hydrate your skin. To prepare this DIY foundation, melt the argan oil, emulsifying wax and shea butter over a double boiler. Once completely melted, add in the witch hazel and aloe gel and whisk everything together till you get a homogenous and smooth mixture. Now remove from heat and add in the clay and zinc till you get the coverage of your choice. Now slowly add in the cocoa powder and mica powder a bit at a time till you get the perfect color for your complexion. Add the prepared foundation into the container of your choice and allow it to cool down. Store in a cool and dry place.
