Add a tablespoon of honey to a glass of hot water and drink it for instant relief. You can also opt to add a few drops of fresh lime juice to the solution for better taste.

Ginger has potent antiviral properties and is an effective natural expectorant as well. In addition to releasing mucus blockages, it can effectively eradicate the viruses causing the condition. Chop ginger into tiny pieces. Add 2 teaspoons of these pieces to a glass of water.

Boil the mixture nicely for about 10 minutes and let it steep for another 10 minutes. Strain the resultant solution, add a tablespoon of honey to half a cup, and drink it. Continue to drink half cup of this concoction at least 6 times throughout the day (amounting to 3 full cups).

Garlic is considered to be a very effective home remedy for wet cough. All you need to do is eat a few cloves of raw garlic to get that mucus flowing. If you don’t like the taste of raw garlic, toss it into a pot of soup right before you take it off the stove.

If you love chicken, then this would be perfect excuse to dig into your favorite food. Drinking a bowl of chicken soup every day can get rid of wet cough quickly and effectively. Chicken soup contains a substance called cysteine which is known for their anti-inflammatory effects. These substances can reduce wet cough considerably by thinning the phlegm, and keep the airways hydrated in order to prevent the cough from worsening.

Remove the seeds from the water, crush them and then add a teaspoon of the resultant paste to a cup of boiling water. Let the solution steep for about 15 minutes, strain it and then drink half cup of the resultant concoction at least twice a day for quick and extended relief from wet cough.

Of course most of us think that lemon juice and common cold go hand in hand! But the truth is far from it! When utilized correctly, lemon juice can actually work out to be a wonderful natural remedy for wet cough. A glass of lemon juice a day can actually clear off all that nasty mucus and phlegm blocking your airways.

Squeeze a full lemon and extract its juice. Add this juice to a cup of hot water (not cold mind it) and stir nicely. Add some sugar to the juice for taste and drink it before it cools down. Drink at least a glass of this juice every day until the wet cough disappears completely.
