Top 5 Home Remedies For Meningitis

Remedies For Meningitis

Meningitis is one the serious and acute diseases found in many parts of the world. It involves the inflammation of the thin protective membranes that line the brain and the spinal cord. Viruses or bacteria attack the lining and cause severe inflammation. Bacterial meningitis is more dangerous and is caused by the meningococcal bacteria. The infection first takes place in the base of the brain and from there, it spreads down the spinal cord. The infection usually starts in the ear, throat, nose or the lungs. There is high fever, headache, stiffness in the back and neck muscles, mental confusion and acute nausea.

The patient cannot tolerate bright light and loud sounds. Sometimes there is a rash on the skin and severe constipation in bacterial meningitis. Mumps, measles, herpes, infection of the upper respiratory tract or even influenza can lead to viral meningitis. The incubation period of the meningitis virus is two to four days and its onset is always very sudden.
