Besides headaches, and ear pain, this leads to difficulty in hearing and can be a very irritating and complicated ear condition. You can try a few herbal remedies, but make sure if the problem persists you get to a doctor.
Effective Herbal Remedies For Ear Congestion
Steam inhalation has been known to be greatly helpful in the case of a cold and ear congestion. It is ideal to add a few drops of eucalyptus oil to 2 cups of hot water and breathe deeply. This steam inhalation will allow the oil fumes to pass through the nostrils and enter the Eustachian tubes to decongest them.
The eucalyptus oil is easily available at all chemist or vitamin stores easily. It also provides instant relief in this intensely irritating situation. You can also put a few drops of oil on a sponge in the steam room the heat will allow the vapors to penetrate the atmosphere and provide respite from the agonizing condition.
Salt And Mint Steam
Fill a flask with boiling water and shove in a few mint leaves along with a table spoon of salt. Shut the flask for a while to let mint seep into the hot water. Then cover yourself with a bath towel and open the flask just beneath your nose. Inhale the fumes of the mint leaves and the salt gently. Don’t burn yourself by shoving the face directly into the flask, let the steam escape slowly for maximum benefit.
Do this exercise for about 15 minutes and repeat it just before you hit the shack. The salt may irritate the skin because of its rough texture so never forget to wash the face after taking steam. If your skin becomes tender due to the salt you can skip it once or twice.
Add one or two tsps of sunflower or olive oil to warm water or use directly and gargle away. The muscles of the throat work in a manner to remove the collected mucus.
This is a simple exercise that can be done even in your drawing room while sitting down. The oil will act as a lubricant and provide relief to a scratchy throat and ear. In about two days time you will feel a lot of relief.
