The infection would cause these glands to swell up and become reddish, resulting in the appearance of reddish bumps called sties.

In addition to being extremely uncomfortable and painful to handle, sties can sometimes ooze fluid, start bleeding or cause secondary infections.

Excellent Home Remedies To Take Care Of A Stye

Although Sties are best treated with OTC medications and antibiotics, there are certain home remedies that can offer relief from the pain and discomfort caused by these bumps. These home remedies would also effectively get rid of the Sties and prevent recurrences.

Apply Warm Compresses

One of the best known home remedies for recurring sties happens to be a warm compress. Applying a warm compress near the swollen glands would increase blood circulation to the infected site. With time, the stye would drain out and disappear. The warmth produced by the compress would also increase the number of white blood cells in the infected region, thereby making it easier for your body to fight off the infection. You can use a towel dipped in hot water as a compress. Make sure your body can handle the heat as the eyes are extremely sensitive.

Place the warm towel over the closed eyelid for about 10 minutes until the warmth reduces. Dip the towel in hot water and place it on the infected region again. Continue doing this at least thrice a day and for a few days until the symptoms of the condition reduce noticeably.

Note: Don’t use the same part of the towel twice. Doing so can lead to reinfections.
