Effective Home Remedies For COPD

COPD is known as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. It is a disease of the lungs in which normal breathing is obstructed. The air passages in the respiratory tract get blocked and this interferes with the free passage of air from the nose to the lungs when we breathe. Mucous fills in the bronchial tubes and clogs the airways. This prevents the free flow of air in and out and results in breathlessness, coughing, chest pains and wheezing.

COPD is usually caused by smoking, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, asthma and long term exposure to polluted air, chemicals, dust and certain drugs. This disease weakens the lungs and allows bacterial infections to damage the walls of the air sacs. The air sacs supply oxygen to the blood and throw out carbon dioxide. Excess mucous is formed and it keeps accumulating in the bronchial tubes which make it hard to breathe.
