You can get a headache due to many factors ranging from lack of sleep to migraine. Most of the time a headache automatically vanishes when you take sleep comfortably in a soft bed with the lights out but sometimes your headache tends to become chronic or too painful to ignore through the day. In such cases people tend to take medication but that is just a temporary relief. Here are 6 lifestyle changes that will assure that any headache caused by simple factors will be cured if you only follow them sincerely.
Exercise doesn’t mean power workout at the gym in this case but only mild breathing and freehand exercises to ensure good blood flow and a clear respiratory tract. With just 10 minutes of deep breathing exercise and 15 minutes of freehand exercises you can get rid of that old headache you had started getting used to! Just 20 minutes of swimming can work wonders too! But if your headache is due to migraine, just get some mild exercise for 10-15 minutes.
Correct Your Posture
Slouching, tilting your head to hold a phone between your shoulder and ear, or hunching the back at the dining table are just a few examples of regular posture mistakes you make. You might already know this is bad for your backbone in the long run but what you might not have known is that the wrong posture makes it difficult for blood to travel all the way up to your head and that causes the mysterious yet stubborn headaches you get every day. Sit straight with a back rest and tilt your head only backwards to rest it and not sideways or forward for any reason.
The commonest reason for a headache is lack of sleep. The eyes and the brain need their share of rest because as long as you’re awake, even if you’re in bed, these are the two organs that are most active throughout the day and the only way they can complain is by throbbing. Compensate for the whole day’s effort of these two organs by sleeping soundly for at least 7 hours a day. If you have problem sleeping, check for natural remedies to get good sleep or remedies to cure insomnia.
Get Rid Of Stress
“You’re a pain in the neck” is what you want to tell many characters you meet every day but the files and computer won’t understand and you’ll never end up saying it to your boss or parents/spouse. All you can do is relieve the literal pain in the neck and the head by relieving stress. Take a pleasant bath and some meal. Get comfortable in your man/woman/others cave and give your head and neck a massage just the way your head and neck seems to be wanting it. Put on some soothing music and get just one serving of alcohol if you like. Go for a spa once in a while.
Severe medication is not the answer to severe headaches. If your medicines don’t seem to work, more of the same thing that isn’t working will not help you. In fact, it will cause side-effects that includes more headache! If you have to take medication, consult a doctor and stick to the prescription.
Instead of stuffing yourself up twice a day, have 4-6 small meals a day so that your blood sugar is maintained at a constant level. Sudden changes in blood sugar or blood pressure causes headaches. Drink plenty of water and have fruits. Avoid too much cheese, chocolates and carbonated drinks.
Remember to follow these simple lifestyle tips and you will forget about the time when headache used to be a part of you. If this lifestyle change doesn’t help you, consult your doctor for a thorough checkup.
