5 DIY Eye Masks To Soothe Tired Eyes

There is no better way of soothing the tired eyes than applying an eye mask that helps in refreshing and relaxing the eyes. With simple ingredients, most of which are present in your kitchen or readily available in the neighborhood store, you can make soothing eye masks for hydrating and calming the eyes. After a hard day at work, a soothing eye mask not only helps in relaxation. It also helps in alleviating puffy or sunken eyes, which often develop when the eyes are strained.

The Following Homemade Eye Masks Work Wonders For The Tired Eyes:

1. Cucumber Eye Mask

Cucumber is known for its soothing and cooling effect that helps in relaxing the tired eyes.[1] To prepare a cucumber eye mask, you will need two teaspoons of freshly grated cucumber, one tablespoon of milk powder and a teaspoon of honey. Blend the ingredients. Close your eyes and apply the mixture over and around the eyes. Relax for 10 minutes and then rinse off with cool water.

2. Aloe Vera Eye Mask

Aloe vera juice helps in hydrating and refreshing the eyes.[2] To soothe the tired eyes, apply an eye mask made by combining a teaspoon of aloe vera juice with two teaspoons of witch hazel, one teaspoon of glycerin and a teaspoon of calendula tincture. Apply the mixture to the bones around the eyes. Close your eyes and relax for 5 minutes. Wipe off with a damp cloth.

3. Apple And Potato Eye Mask

Apple and potato eye mask help in hydrating and nourishing the eyes.[3] Take one-fourth of an apple and grate it. Grate a small potato. Mix them and apply the mixture on and around the closed eyes. Cover the eyes with warm wash cloth. Relax for 15 minutes and then rinse.

4. Pumpkin Eye Mask

Peel a piece of pumpkin and remove the seeds.[4] Cook the pumpkin in two cups of water, until soft. Mash the cooked pumpkin and add a teaspoon of honey. Close your eyes and apply the mixture over and around the eyes. Relax for about 20 minutes and then rinse.

5. Fennel Eye Mask

Steep three tablespoons of fennel seeds in ½-cup of boiling hot water for about 10 minutes.[5] Dip cotton wad in the infusion and place it on the closed tired eye. Leave it on for 15 minutes. The fennel eye mask helps in relaxing the tired eyes.
