Reflexology is an alternative treatment that involves treating various illnesses by applying pressure on specific points, known as reflexology points, present on the feet, hands and ears. Although reflexology cannot cure illnesses, it helps in providing relief from symptoms that help in improving the condition of the patient and speeds up the natural healing mechanism of the body. It is especially effective for treating nausea. There are various causes of nausea. Some of the common causes are pregnancy, motion sickness, flu, chemotherapy and side effects of certain medications. Regardless of the underlying cause, nausea can be stopped with reflexology.

The reflexology point that helps in providing relief from nausea is located between the two large tendons on your wrist. To locate the point, place the index finger, middle finger and the ring finger of your left hand on your right wrist. Put your left thumb below your index finger. Your thumb will now touch the P-6 point, which is between the two large tendons on your hand.
Press The Point
Firmly press your thumb on the P-6 pressure point. While exerting pressure on the point move your thumb in circular motion. Continue applying pressure but it should not be too hard to cause discomfort. Press the point for 2 to 3 minutes.
Reapply Pressure On Other Wrist
Although your nausea will start subsiding while you are pressing the P-6 point on your right wrist, for effective result, the pressure should be evenly distributed on both the wrists. After pressing the right wrist, locate the P-6 point on your left wrist. With your right thumb or index finger, apply pressure on the point on your left wrist for 2 to 3 minutes.
Locate ST-36 Point On Leg
Applying pressure on the reflexology point ST-36 on the leg also helps in providing relief from nausea. To locate the point, place your four fingers below your knee cap at the side of the shinbone. Here you will find a muscle that moves when you move your foot. This is the pressure point ST-36.
With your thumb, apply moderate pressure on the point. While pressing the point, stimulate the point with circulation motion of your thumb. Apply pressure for 2 to 3 minutes. Reapply pressure on the ST-36 point on your other leg.
